Candy Abbott: Speaker

Candy is an inspirational speaker. Rooted and grounded in the Vine, she is known as a "Fruitbearer" whose life verse is Galatians 5:22-23. Her intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit often elicits a deep emotional response in those who yearn to hear the voice of God. With a rare combination of skill, poise, and tact, audiences are drawn by Candy's willingness to make herself vulnerable and are impacted by her creative ability to find biblical application in everyday life. Her Spirit-led words and personal anecdotes come across with sincerity and compassion that bring conviction in the gentlest way, inspiring a fresh hunger for the Word of God and a passion for Christ's presence.

The Lord has been ministering through Candy since 1983 when He called her to write and publish her non-fiction book, Fruitbearer: What Can I Do For You, Lord? Now in its third printing, this "urgent call to grassroots believers" will take you on a spiritual journey where you will discover a new depth of appreciation for what God is doing in your life, even in distressing times. As the Lord meets you between the lines of her book, your heart will be quickened to say, "What can I do for You, Lord?" Get ready for an adventure in fruitbearing as the Master calls you by name. When the trumpet sounds for the Lord's return, may He find you communing with Him, bearing fruit for the Kingdom--fruit that will last.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore,
to send out workers into his harvest field."

Fearless when following the leading of the Lord, especially in her writing, Candy is tackling the challenge of telling a teen nerd's story (think Charlie Brown and Harry Potter) who must save his hometown in a spiritual battle of good and evil. Gavin Goodfellow: The Lure of Burnt Swamp, book one of the Burnt Swamp Trilogy, is available and being used in Christian schools.

In addition to Candy's fiction and non-fiction books, a variety of her short stories appear in various anthologies: Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul; Chicken Soup for the Volunteer's Soul; Chicken Soup for the Christian Woman's Soul; For Better, For Worse; The Heart of a Father; Touched by Angels of Mercy; Stories for a Teen's Heart 2; Stories for a Woman's Heart, God Answers Prayers, and My Turn to Care.

Named "Writer of the Year" at the 2003 Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference, Candy enjoys her role as public speaker and workshop presenter. She is a charter member and officer of Southern Delaware Toastmasters, a CLASServices graduate, a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature (Writing for Children and Teenagers), and founder and director of Delmarva's Christian Writers' Fellowship.
